An Invitation
Just something I wrote today.
“I’ve got no where to go with this pain.”
Wrong, you know where to go with this pain
Instead you want to throw words and pass the blame
Instead you want to turn in and absorb the rain
Instead you want to choose the things that numb your brain
Bring it to Me and let go of the reins
Bring it to Me and see where healing reigns
Fall to your knees and let Me break your chains
Raise your hands and find joy in the praise
Use your voice and hear how Mine remains
No shame, fear, or condemnation here
Only the wisdom, love, and comfort that helps you bear
Only a Savior who forgives and sees you with unchanging care
Strip away the old and bring to Me what lays bare
The stripes and thorns of your sins He once wore
The veil to be close to Him, He forever tore
Your scars are not the story that defines your name
I’ve called you Mine before you ever faced your pain
I’ve called you Mine when you wanted to let it all wash down the drain
The path you’ve chosen, you chose to walk alone
But where I am leading you is your eternal home
The mountain that you’re climbing is too steep and full of holes
Turn back to me Daughter and allow me to change the roads
That weight on your shoulders is more than you can bear
Stop carrying burdens I’ve never asked you to wear
Stop carrying burdens I have asked you to release
You’ve prayed over and over to be rid of your grief
You keep searching for solace in places that can’t save
While I continue to stand before you with open arms before the very grave
